SOLIDWORKS MECHANICAL DESIGN PROJECT

I completed this gearbox design over the course of two classes focused on learning SolidWorks. I was given instructions on modeling the different parts and assemblies in SolidWorks, but these parts were intentionally filled with design flaws - courtesy of our mechanical design instructor. Using design principles learned in our study of fastener assembly, I was able to accurately specify retaining ring and bushing sizes. We also were able to design/tolerance the shaft fits and groove dimensions on the parts we created.

The completion of this gearbox was instrumental in becoming comfortable using SolidWorks to do mechanical design.
